Leonard Bass Sr Obituary

Leonard Bernard Bass Sr. was born to Charley and Aline Bass on April 6, 1958, in Seattle, Washington, and was called home to be with the Lord on January 15, 2026. Though his transition from this life feels untimely, we trust in God’s perfect will and take comfort in knowing that Leonard has entered eternal rest.

Leonard was a husband, father, and man of faith whose life reflected humility, service, and unwavering love. As a skilled electrician by trade, he worked diligently and honorably, believing that all work done should be done correctly and with a spirit of excellence. He lived demonstrating strength through kindness and faith in action.

A lover of music and a faithful servant of the church, Leonard found deep purpose in serving within the music ministry. Growing up with a father standing firm behind the pulpit, a mother leading Sunday school classes and siblings playing an instrument or singing, he quite literally was raised up on the Word and the ways of living saved. Through song and service, he used his gifts to glorify God and encourage others. Music was not only something he enjoyed, it was a ministry through which his faith spoke when words were unnecessary.

Leonard cherished time with his family and friends, gathering with loved ones through his cooking, conversation, and calm presence. He lived in Seattle, Dallas, and Portland, carrying the same Christ-centered spirit wherever he went. He loved people without judgment, extended grace freely, and walked in forgiveness—reflecting the heart of Christ in his daily life.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Aline Bass; his brothers, Eric and Frederick Sr.; and his sisters, Lydia and Rebecca.

He leaves to honor and cherish his memory his beloved wife, Gwendolyn Bass; his children, Davina Bass Clemmons (Mark), Leonard Bass II, Michael Bass, Emmanuel Bass, and Tamara Bass; grandchildren, Marcus, Marquis, Joshua, Leonard III, Theron, LaToya, Tamyra, Jakobi, Julius, Camila, extended family, church family, and dear friends who were blessed by his life.

Though we mourn his earthly absence, we rejoice in the hope of salvation and the promise of eternal life. Leonard B. Bass Sr.’s legacy is one of faith lived out loud, love given freely, and service rendered faithfully. His life reminds us that a life anchored in Christ never ends—it simply changes address.

“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.”
— Matthew 25:23
